Los Angeles Sports Travel Guide

Take your colors to Los Angeles. Start with the right sports territory, build a workable base and arrival plan, and leave room for the game-day culture that made the trip worth taking.

What kind of road trip are you building?

  • One must-see game: choose its territory first. Put the hotel and return journey around that game before comparing the rest of LA.
  • Two or more events: place every venue, then decide which transfers deserve their own day. More tickets only improve the weekend if you get to enjoy them.
  • A first visit with room to explore: leave daylight between travel and game time. Choose a base that works for the sports plan and the time around it.

Find the right branch

Inglewood / Hollywood Park

SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome sit southwest of Downtown LA, east of LAX. They share a broad trip territory, but they are separate venues with separate entrances and transport instructions.

Start by choosing the actual venue and event. An Inglewood or airport-area base can fit a trip dominated by these games; test the hotel-to-venue leg rather than assuming an airport shuttle reaches a stadium.

Metro service to SoFi Stadium · Metro service to Intuit Dome

Downtown LA

Crypto.com Arena is in the Downtown branch, north of Exposition Park. Pico serves the arena area; 7th Street/Metro Center is another approach.

A central base can support rail-linked plans, but the arena is not at Union Station. Compare the exact hotel address with the station and your return service.

Metro service to Crypto.com Arena

Chavez Ravine

Dodger Stadium sits north of Downtown, away from the downtown rail platforms. Union Station is an interchange for the ballpark shuttle, not the ballpark itself.

Choose a complete shuttle or parking plan. A downtown hotel can fit, but a rail symbol near the city center does not remove the final connection or the uphill alternative.

Dodger Stadium Express and transit

Exposition Park

BMO Stadium and the LA Memorial Coliseum occupy the same park territory south of Downtown. The E Line runs along its northern edge.

This is a genuine shared-campus relationship. Reach the correct stadium and entry on the day; shared ground does not make tickets, parking passes or event procedures interchangeable.

Metro service to BMO Stadium · Metro service to the Coliseum

Pasadena

The Rose Bowl is northeast of central Los Angeles, in the Arroyo Seco west of central Pasadena. Memorial Park station is a connection point, not a stadium gate.

Treat Pasadena as its own trip anchor. A special-event shuttle may bridge the final leg; verify that it operates for your date before building a car-free plan around it.

Metro and event shuttles to the Rose Bowl

Carson

Dignity Health Sports Park sits south of central Los Angeles in Carson. It is separate from Exposition Park and the Inglewood venues.

For Galaxy home MLS matches, compare the Galaxy Express connections with driving. Do not transfer that match-specific service promise to another event.

Dignity Health Sports Park directions and Galaxy Express

One market, different home crowds

At SoFi, an eligible tailgating plan can make the parking decision part of the day itself. At the Rose Bowl, UCLA’s game-day offering includes a tailgating and Fan Zone layer. At BMO Stadium, LAFC’s North End and the 3252 are part of the club’s supporter identity. These are reasons to allow time before the game, not reasons to borrow one venue’s rules for another.

Your jersey travels easily. Your arrival plan needs more care. Respect the home traditions, choose the right ticket area and let the host’s version of game day be part of the trip.

SoFi’s event-specific tailgating rules · UCLA tailgating and Fan Zone · LAFC: the 3252 and North End supporter culture

Book the trip in this order

  1. Confirm the ticket: exact venue, date, start time and any special-event identity. A team name alone is not a venue check.
  2. Choose the territory: use the geographic map and distinguish shared campus from regional transfer.
  3. Test the base: compare the actual hotel-to-game return, not a “Los Angeles” address or a regional midpoint.
  4. Choose the airport chain: compare airfare with terminal transfer, bags, ground transport and arrival-day pressure.
  5. Finish the event plan: tickets on the right device, bag rules, accessible needs, arrival mode and the return connection.

A skyline is not the whole market

The historical Dodger Stadium photograph establishes one unmistakable LA sports scene. It does not describe every territory in this guide. For the regional relationship, use Metro’s geographic map alongside its current venue connection pages.

Choose the part of Los Angeles your game uses

Conceptual geographic orientation. North is up; west is left. Not to scale. Dots mark named anchors, not stops, gates or hotel boundaries. No travel route is drawn.

Map relationships: BUR is north of central LA. Pasadena is northeast; the Rose Bowl lies west of central Pasadena. Dodger Stadium is north of Downtown, while Exposition Park is south. Inglewood is southwest of Downtown, with LAX farther west. Carson is a separate southern branch. SoFi and Intuit share the broad Inglewood territory; BMO and the Coliseum share Exposition Park. Each venue has its own entrance and event instructions.

What it changes: Choose the main game’s territory before choosing the hotel or airport. A Downtown photograph cannot stand in for Inglewood, Pasadena or Carson.

GDT editorial diagram from Metro’s May 2026 geographic map; source reviewed October 6, 2026. Approximate placement shows regional relationships, not distances, precise boundaries, current service, a walking route or step-free access. Use the official map and venue guidance below for your dated plan.

The route diagram and geographic map are different tools. Use the first to follow lines and transfers; use the second to understand where the trip branches sit. Neither promises a fixed drive time or a frictionless walk.

Leave space for the part you came for

The best LA sports weekend is not necessarily the one with the most venues. It is the one that leaves you time to notice a different ballpark, meet your group before kickoff and get home without a desperate last connection. Pick the game that matters most. Build the rest around it.

Major-event plans are their own layer. Recheck the organizer for a championship, tournament, international match or other special event instead of assuming regular-season shuttles, parking or entry rules carry over.

Check the details for your date
