Map relationships: BUR is north of central LA. Pasadena is northeast; the Rose Bowl lies west of central Pasadena. Dodger Stadium is north of Downtown, while Exposition Park is south. Inglewood is southwest of Downtown, with LAX farther west. Carson is a separate southern branch. SoFi and Intuit share the broad Inglewood territory; BMO and the Coliseum share Exposition Park. Each venue has its own entrance and event instructions.
What it changes: Use LAX’s position west of Inglewood and BUR’s position north of central LA as starting context only. Flight timing, terminal transfers and the final base connection decide the better complete chain. Other airports are not plotted here.

LAX: the terminal connection is part of the trip
Using Metro rail
Metro’s current LAX guide connects the C and K Lines with LAX/Metro Transit Center, then uses a free shuttle between that center and the terminals. Account for that extra connection in both directions. A rail arrival at the transit center is not a terminal arrival.
Using FlyAway
The airport’s FlyAway page lists terminal bus service to Union Station and Van Nuys. For a Downtown base, compare the Union Station option with the onward hotel trip. Union Station is not every Downtown hotel and it is not Crypto.com Arena or Dodger Stadium.
Using a road transfer
Allow for collecting bags and reaching the pickup point. LAX distinguishes ride-app/taxi pickup, hotel shuttles and rental-car arrangements; these are separate chains. Use your service’s current instructions and airport construction alerts rather than a saved curb diagram. Check the hotel shuttle directly before relying on it.
LAX ground transport and construction alerts
Do not plan around an airport train or facility merely because an opening has been announced. Confirm an operating passenger service for your travel date. This guide makes no claim that the LAX Automated People Mover is open.
BUR: choose the right station, then the terminal link
Hollywood Burbank’s official guide distinguishes Airport–South on Metrolink’s Ventura County Line from Airport–North on the Antelope Valley Line. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner also serves Airport–South. Those are separate stations with different terminal connections, not interchangeable names for one platform.
South passengers can use the airport’s intermodal-center connection, and the airport describes shuttle options. North has its own airport shuttle. Confirm the exact train, operating day, terminal connection and last useful departure before buying a flight around rail. A convenient arrival train does not prove the return works.
Hollywood Burbank Airport bus and rail
GDT call: put BUR on the shortlist when its flights and complete ground chain fit. Avoid choosing it solely because “smaller airport” sounds easier. A missed connection or an awkward late return can erase that advantage.
When another airport belongs in the comparison
Long Beach Airport can enter the comparison when your flight options or wider stay make Long Beach relevant. John Wayne Airport can enter when Orange County is a material part of the trip. Compare each dated ground journey with the LA events you actually hold tickets for; neither airport is an automatic shortcut to every LA stadium.

If another airport’s fare looks better, write down the onward mode, expected total ground cost, luggage constraints and return plan before choosing it. This guide does not certify a fastest airport, transfer time or a specific flight’s availability.
Use one complete arrival card
- Flight: exact arrival airport, arrival time and a margin for delays.
- Terminal: bags, required assistance and the actual pickup or terminal-to-station connection.
- Base: the hotel entrance, luggage storage and check-in arrangements.
- Game: separate entry and transport instructions for the venue and event.
- Departure: reverse the complete chain, using the service that runs on your departure day.
If access needs matter, verify each connection with its operator: terminal assistance, boarding, station elevators and the hotel/venue approach. A route shown on a map does not certify continuous step-free access.
Give the jersey a better first outing than a race from baggage claim. If the flight only works when every connection goes perfectly, arrive earlier or move the game to another day.
