CHICAGO · FOUR VENUES · ONE TRIP

Chicago venues & transit: know the territory.

Bring your colors across town. Wrigley, Rate, Soldier Field and the United Center pull a Chicago trip in four different directions. Start with that geography, then choose a base and a sequence that leave room to enjoy the city.

Four directions from the Loop.

Find your venue’s side of town before choosing the hotel.

Four venues, four parts of Chicago

The four venues in this guide sit north, south, southeast and west of the Loop. Use the operator’s geographic map alongside these relationships, then check each actual journey for your event.

Wrigley Field

Location: 1060 W Addison Street. City relationship: North of the Loop, on the north–south Red Line corridor.

South Side · Armour Square

Rate Field

Location: 333 W 35th Street. City relationship: South of the Loop. The Red Line connects the north–south geography of the two ballparks.

Lakefront · Museum Campus

Soldier Field

Location: 1410 S Museum Campus Drive. City relationship: Southeast of the Loop, beyond the Roosevelt station area toward the lakefront.

Network context: Roosevelt serves the Red, Green and Orange lines; CTA 146 is a separate bus option. For Metra, Soldier Field directs visitors to 18th Street. Museum Campus/11th Street is a different station, not another name for 18th Street. Check your train’s actual stops and the walk from the station you choose. Check the venue’s Metra directions.

Soldier Field’s own contact page uses both 1410 Special Olympics Drive and 1410 S. Museum Campus Drive for the same stadium. Use your event’s official gate and parking directions for the final approach. Check the venue’s address listing.

Near West Side

United Center

Location: 1901 W Madison Street. City relationship: West of the Loop, with a separate east–west approach.

Network context: Damen on the Green Line; Illinois Medical District on the Blue Line; Madison bus corridor.

These are geographic relationships, not a gate-by-gate route. A station’s location does not establish a usable step-free journey or current service. Metra has distinct lines and downtown terminals; do not treat the terminals as interchangeable.

THE FOUR-TERRITORY BOARD

Let the venue mix shape the trip.

Choose the territory your trip revolves around. If more than one matters, test the journeys between them before you settle on a base.

North Side · Wrigleyville

North Side focus, or a cross-city weekend?

A Wrigley-centered trip can start with a North Side base. Add every South Side or lakefront outing as a separate journey.

South Side · Armour Square

Check the connection to the South Side.

Compare your base’s connection to the South Side. A shared rail line does not make Wrigley and Rate one arrival plan.

Lakefront · Museum Campus

Keep the lakefront stage in the plan.

Treat the final station-to-campus stage as part of the plan. Compare the actual connection from your base and the return after the event.

Near West Side

Test the Near West Side trip separately.

Test the trip from your hotel to the Near West Side. A West Loop base can fit the arena portion without solving the rest of a multi-venue weekend.

Choose the connection before the hotel.

A neighborhood name starts the search; the actual address finishes it. Compare the hotel-to-station connection, any transfer and the final approach to each venue. These base implications are GDT planning guidance, not a ranking of hotels.

Loop / South Loop

Start here when several territories matter. The Loop gives central network context; the South Loop shifts the trip toward Museum Campus. Check the precise rail or bus connection instead of assuming every downtown address works alike.

River North / Gold Coast

These areas sit north of the Loop. Test the hotel’s actual connection for both the game and the rest of your stay; being north of downtown does not place you beside Wrigley.

West Loop / Near West

This can fit a United Center-focused trip. Keep the north, south and lakefront outings on the same worksheet before deciding that the whole weekend is solved.

North Side

A Wrigley-centered base gives the ballpark territory more weight. If the ticket list also includes Rate, Soldier Field or the United Center, compare those separate trips before booking.

A second game is a second journey.

Two tickets can make a memorable road trip. Give each event enough space to be its own experience instead of treating the city as a transfer platform.

01 · Confirm both events

Check the date, venue and start time for each ticket. Keep the event finish uncertain; a calendar gap is not a travel-time guarantee.

02 · Test each leg

Plan hotel → first venue, first venue → next destination, and the final return. Include time to leave the event and complete the last station-to-venue stage. The operator planner evaluates a particular trip; the map explains the city around it.

03 · Keep room to change your mind

If the connection only works when everything goes perfectly, favor separate days or a simpler venue mix. Decide which event matters most before a delay makes the choice for you.

Verify the trip you’ll actually take.

Before you commit to a hotel or pair of events, test the trip from the actual address. Check the return as well as the arrival. On game day, recheck service changes and elevator notices.

For an accessible trip, check both stations, any transfer and the street-to-venue connection. Confirm the event location and its current arrival instructions in the venue guide. Use the venue confirmed for your event; don’t infer a relocation from future stadium announcements.

NEXT MOVE

Turn the geography into your weekend.

Use the Chicago guide to choose the next part of your trip. If Wrigley is the anchor, compare the neighborhood stay with a downtown base.
