NEW ORLEANS / SMOOTHIE KING CENTER / ARRIVAL

Make the arena one part of a good night.

A downtown base may let you leave the car parked. Compare your actual walk and RTA options with event parking or rideshare, then give the return trip the same attention as the opening tip.

ARRIVAL BOARD / GDT RECOMMENDATION

Start with where you’re staying.

DOWNTOWN BASE

Walk, if it suits your party.

Avoid a second parking decision. Check the actual outdoor route, weather, mobility needs and return before committing.

CONNECTED ORIGIN

RTA, with a return plan.

Compare the live trip planner for both directions. Transit fits only if the remaining walk and post-event service work.

CAR-DEPENDENT TRIP

Drive with event parking settled.

Confirm your facility, access rules and payment before leaving. The closest map label is not a parking reservation.

FLEXIBLE DOOR-TO-ZONE

Rideshare, with pickup agreed.

Avoid storing a car, but allow for the trip between venue and designated pickup zone. Prices and waits remain variable.

These are planning recommendations, not promises about travel time, parking inventory, safety or service.

KNOW THE LAST PART OF THE TRIP

Shared campus. Separate arena approach.

Venue address

1501 Dave Dixon Drive. The arena is south of the Dome; Howard Avenue borders its southern side.

Parking anchors

Champions Garage and Lot 3 are east of the arena; Lot 4 is west. Verify which facility your event actually offers.

Rideshare anchor

The operator currently identifies Poydras Street between Clara Street and Loyola Avenue. That is a campus zone, not an arena-door pickup.

Map: Caesars Superdome / Legends Global; link checked October 6, 2026 (UTC). Geographic relationships come from the approved campus-map reading. This page does not draw a route, assign a gate or guarantee a continuous accessible path.

Reserve for the arena event you’re attending.

The campus has garages and surface lots, but the arena says not every parking facility opens for every event. Use the arena’s event-specific parking offer rather than assuming the Dome’s arrangements apply.

Arena parking is cashless. The A–Z guide prohibits overnight parking and re-entry to parking facilities, so a space is not a base for leaving the car through a wider weekend.

Before buying or driving: match the event and date, check the exact facility and entry instructions, confirm vehicle restrictions and save the pass. Choose the facility on usable access, not just how close its label sits to the building.

Plan the ride home before you plan the ride there.

  • Enter your actual starting point, Smoothie King Center, travel date and arrival time in RTA’s trip planner. Review the last outdoor leg as part of the journey.
  • Run the reverse journey for a realistic post-event departure. Check the final useful service, transfers and whether the remaining walk works for everyone in your party.
  • Recheck RTA alerts before leaving. A route shown on a static map is not confirmation that it is operating normally for your event.

The arena’s guide identifies a public-transport stop on Poydras across from Superdome Gate A Ground. Confirm the current service with RTA and treat the remaining campus approach as a separate part of the arena trip.

No specific route number, departure, fare or last service is promised here.

Agree on pickup before the crowd leaves.

Both venue operators currently identify the rideshare zone on Poydras between Clara and Loyola. Event instructions can change that location. Check the venue’s guidance and the app’s pickup point before requesting the car; avoid making a curbside promise based on the map alone.

GDT recommendation: save the current pickup instructions, keep the group together and allow flexibility for demand, traffic and road controls. No fixed postgame fare or wait is reliable enough to promise.

Need an accessible arrival? Start here.

The arena currently identifies Lot 3 for accessible parking at Pelicans games, subject to availability and required credentials. Other events can differ. Confirm the parking arrangement for your specific event.

Its accessible drop-off and pickup point is at Dave Dixon Drive and Le Rouge Lane. The venue warns that peak egress can temporarily restrict pickup; confirm the return arrangement before arrival. Do not substitute the general Poydras rideshare zone for a confirmed accessible approach.

Parking office: 504-587-3805. Ask about the event, vehicle requirements, a usable arrival route and post-event pickup. Do not treat the Grand Staircase or a short-looking line on a map as a step-free route.

Keep the rest of the evening in the plan.

A Pelicans game and a stadium event next door can share geography without sharing hours or entrance rules. Decide where you want to be after the arena, then choose the arrival mode that still works for that second destination.

The arena sets door times and entry locations by event. Check the listing rather than borrowing the schedule from your last basketball game.

The buzzer can end the game without ending your New Orleans night.

Your last check before leaving.

  1. Correct venue, event and ticket entrance.
  2. Parking pass or current transit plan, plus the return.
  3. Pickup or accessible-arrival instructions, saved where you can find them.
  4. Current event notice and RTA alerts, if you’re using transit.

Official sources checked October 6, 2026 (UTC). Event parking, pickup, access and transit can change. GDT’s mode comparison is editorial judgment; operator instructions control the date-specific details.
