SAINT PAUL / ALLIANZ FIELD

Bring your scarf. Choose your section carefully.

Minnesota United’s Allianz Field is in Saint Paul’s Midway area, along the Green Line between the two downtowns. That makes either city a possible base. For a visiting supporter, there is an earlier decision too: the Wonderwall is the home supporters’ section, with its own standing and clothing rules.

Build around the match you actually want

  • Wearing the visiting team’s colors: choose a suitable section outside the Wonderwall and confirm away-supporter arrangements with the ticket office.
  • Choosing the home supporters’ experience: the Wonderwall is general admission and standing-room-only. Expect the operator-described chants, drums, flags and goal smoke; decide whether that fits your group.
  • Using rail: the Green Line serves Snelling Avenue Station. From the Blue Line, Metro Transit directs travelers to the eastbound Green Line at U.S. Bank Stadium Station.
  • Driving or needing drop-off: choose a current lot or designated arrival arrangement, with the final approach checked separately.

Midway is its own matchday location

Allianz Field is not in downtown Saint Paul and is not in the downtown Minneapolis sports district. The Green Line connects the stadium’s Snelling Avenue stop with both downtowns; your hotel choice should follow the rest of the trip as well as this match.

If the weekend also includes the Wild, test a Saint Paul base. If it is mainly Twins, Vikings, Wolves or Lynx, compare a Minneapolis base and the round-trip rail connection. For a match-only visit, evaluate the exact lodging address, meal plan and ride home rather than selecting a city by name alone.

Choose transit before buying parking by habit

Green Line service gives the two downtowns a direct rail connection to Snelling Avenue Station. Metro Transit also identifies bus options around the stadium. Check the current trip planner for your origin and expected departure after the match.

If you drive, distinguish reserved member lots from public single-game choices. Compare the approach, the final walk and the exit rather than just the distance to the field. The operator’s current map and lot description should govern a parking purchase.

Let the home end be part of the experience

The operator describes the Wonderwall through singing, drums, waving flags and goal celebrations. It also says opposing team colors and logos do not belong in that section. An away fan can enjoy that home-team spectacle from an appropriate seat without buying into the wrong part of the stadium.

A standing supporters’ section is a specific experience, not a universal upgrade. If continuous standing, noise or smoke would not suit the group, choose the seat around those needs first. Keep rivalry in the stands respectful and the ticket choice practical.

The colors are part of the trip.

Make the final approach match your needs

The stadium provides accessibility information, sensory kits and seating guidance. Its published pages use more than one street description for the accessible drop-off approach. Confirm the current approach directly before travel, especially if construction or mobility needs make a wrong turn costly.

Keep the accessible drop-off separate from the ordinary rideshare zone. Wheelchair assistance inside the venue does not automatically provide transport from the station or a distant parking lot. A map of nearby transit is not a certified step-free path.

Confirm Allianz Field access and accommodations

Before you leave the base

  • Load your match ticket and confirm that the section matches the experience you want.
  • Check the current bag and prohibited-item policy before packing; plan storage for luggage away from the stadium.
  • Read matchday notices and the weather forecast. Keep time for screening and reaching your place before kickoff.
  • Set the return direction and a fallback if service changes or you leave later than planned.

Choose the postmatch direction before kickoff

On the Green Line, be clear whether you are returning toward Minneapolis or downtown Saint Paul. If you parked, save the lot’s pedestrian and vehicle access, not just its name. For pickup, use the current designated arrangement rather than expecting a car at whichever gate you exit.

An Allianz match and an arena game in Saint Paul may share a rail corridor, but they still need separate final approaches and enough time between events. Test the actual sequence before adding the second ticket.

When to skip the Wonderwall

Choose another section if you intend to wear the opposing team’s colors, need an assigned place to sit, or do not want the standing, flags, drumming and occasional smoke described by the operator. The Wonderwall is general admission and standing-room-only. Ask the ticket office about an appropriate away-supporter or accessible seating option before buying.

These operator pages own event rules and live travel information. Recheck for your date before leaving; a normal rail connection does not promise service after your event.

Your next move

Keep the hotel, game and return journey in the same plan. Your ticket gets you in; a good base makes the rest of the trip work.
