About this Toyota Center guide

Toyota Center is the Houston Rockets’ home arena at 1510 Polk Street in Downtown Houston. A good visit starts with three decisions: how you will arrive, whether you are carrying a bag, and where you will eat. Make those decisions for your actual event. A Rockets game and a concert can have different parking and screening arrangements even though they use the same building.

This guide helps you prepare for the arena visit, from choosing a ticket to getting back to your hotel. For the broader trip, start with our Houston sports travel guide.

Tickets and current construction changes

Start with the right event and ticket

Check the event name, Houston location, local date, start time and ticket details before you book the rest of the trip. Do not assume a concert uses the same floor layout or entrance instructions as basketball.

Toyota Center’s ticket guidance says tickets are delivered through AXS Mobile ID. Its box office is cashless, and it does not issue paper tickets. Open your tickets before leaving your hotel so that login or transfer problems can be dealt with before you reach the doors.

If your group may arrive separately, decide who will hold each ticket and use the ticket provider’s transfer instructions. Keep your event information, parking confirmation and hotel address accessible on your phone. Charge it before setting out, especially if it will also be your payment method and return-trip planner.

Changes during construction

The arena’s current renovation notice says La Branch Plaza and the La Branch Entrance are closed. The Team Shop Entrance is also closed on event days. VIP and general-admission floor entrances may change by event, so use the instructions for your ticket rather than an old entrance diagram.

Construction also affects streets between the arena and George R. Brown Convention Center. Check the current traffic notice before driving; allow additional time for your approach.

The box office is closed for renovations. Event-day assistance is available inside Bell Street Atrium and Polk Street Lobby after doors open. For ticket problems before then, the published assistance number is 713-758-7239 during regular business hours.

Build your arrival around the entrance you can actually use. The street address identifies the venue; it does not identify the correct screening door for every visitor.

Make the most of game day

Settle the important choices before leaving your hotel. Give dinner, screening and the trip back their own time, so the game stays at the center of the evening.

BEFORE LEAVING

Ticket, bag, entrance

Open AXS Mobile ID and read your event email. Construction can change the entrance your ticket uses.

BEFORE TIPOFF

Dinner, then the doors

Allow time to finish the meal, reach the correct entrance and clear screening. Use actual event door times.

AFTER THE GAME

Finish the return plan

Retrieve stored bags, reach the agreed pickup or station, and confirm your last usable train beforehand.

Getting there and back

The arena is at 1510 Polk Street. Compare the entire evening, not just distance to the building. Construction affects entrances and nearby streets.

Original street context: Toyota Center between Polk and Bell streets, La Branch west, Jackson east; park and Austin Street west, garage south. Not a route.
Original GDT street context, not a walking route. Open full-size map. Based on official construction guidance.

Transit

METRO identifies Bell on Red and Convention District on Green/Purple. Check both directions and your last usable return.

Drive

Tundra Garage is unavailable to non-passholders on Rockets game days. Check a valid pass or compare another lot for your entire evening.

Rideshare

Arena guidance points Lyft toward Austin Street, west of Root Memorial Square. Follow the current app pickup and event instructions.

Bringing a bag? Ordinary limit: 10 × 6 × 2 inches, with diaper/medical categories permitted. Rockets bag screening uses designated entrances. Bell Street is not Bell Atrium. La Branch and event-day Team Shop entrances are closed in the checked notice.

Parking passes, rail, rideshare and the return

Choose how you will get there

Compare the whole evening, including the return. A cheap parking space is less useful if its access hours do not cover the event, and a simple outbound rail trip is incomplete until you know how to get back.

Driving and the Toyota Tundra Garage

The official parking page says Tundra Garage is unavailable to non-passholders on Rockets game days. For concerts and other events, it recommends reserving parking through the ticket flow or the parking link in the event email. Being close to the garage does not mean you can buy entry on arrival.

If you have a Rockets parking pass, match its color to the listed entrance:

PassLevelPublished entrance address
Green11515 Jackson Street
White21515 Leeland Street
Red31515 Leeland Street
Yellow4–71500 La Branch Street

Premium Skybridge access has its own eligibility. Check the privileges attached to your ticket rather than treating a garage reservation as a premium arena entrance.

For another garage or surface lot, compare the total price for your exact event window, the vehicle entrance, pedestrian exit, height restrictions and access after the event. Check whether your reservation allows the whole time you intend to stay Downtown. A low price for a shorter window may not fit dinner plus the game.

Save the actual parking entrance address, not just the business name. Photograph your level or space and keep the reservation instructions. If your group splits up, agree where to meet after the event before entering the arena.

Street parking

Read the signs and pay-station information for the actual space. ParkHouston directs drivers to those local instructions for enforcement times and posted parking limits. Do not base a whole game-night plan on a blanket claim that Downtown meters are free after a particular hour.

If the permitted stay is shorter than dinner plus the event, choose a different space or an off-street option. Also check temporary restrictions and closures before leaving your car.

METRORail and rideshare

METRO’s Toyota Center page identifies Bell on the Red Line and Convention District on the Green and Purple lines. Use those as planning points, then check your complete journey, the current street approach and the entrance required for your ticket and bag.

Look up the return for the actual day and direction. Allow for an uncertain event finish, time to exit and the walk to the station. A frequency description does not establish the last train you can catch. If you are not comfortable relying on the available return, choose a different mode before setting out.

The arena’s rideshare guidance points Lyft passengers toward Austin Street, west of Root Memorial Square Park. Check the current app pickup point and event instructions when you leave. Do not request the ride before your group is ready to reach the pickup location.

Our Getting Around Houston guide helps you compare transport choices across the rest of your stay. These arena pointers are not a verified door-to-door or step-free route.

Bag dimensions, screening entrances and storage

Measure your bag before leaving

The ordinary bag limit is 10 × 6 × 2 inches; the policy also permits diaper and medical bags. All are searched. A bag accepted at another venue may not qualify here.

This is a size-based bag policy, not a general requirement that bags be clear. Check the official event rules as well as the permitted dimensions.

For Rockets games, bag screening is at Jackson Street, Bell Atrium or the Skybridge for eligible premium ticketholders. Bell Street Entrance is different from Bell Atrium: guests with bags at Bell Street are redirected to Bell Atrium. Concert and third-party-event screening can use any entrance, subject to current closures and ticket-specific instructions.

Binbox storage is at Jackson Street and Tundra Garage’s Level 3 Skybridge entrance. The published starting charge is $10 per bag, nonrefundable and cashless. Bag check opens with arena doors. Stored bags cannot be accessed during the event. Re-entry is prohibited; storage closes 60 minutes after the event.

Decide what must remain with you before checking a bag. Returning to the hotel first may be the simpler choice for luggage, shopping or gear you do not need inside. Do not build a tightly timed departure around unconfirmed locker capacity or a storage location you are not entitled to reach.

Find your seat

Start with the Rockets basketball configuration, then compare your exact section and row. Concert stage layouts differ.

Section groups, seat trade-offs and event layouts

Choose seats for the event you are attending

Toyota Center publishes separate seating charts for Rockets basketball and several concert configurations. Start with the chart for your event and the actual ticket listing.

Diagram text: above the court, lower sections 117–123 include East Club-side 118–122; below, 104–110 include West Club-side 105–109. Left end/corners: 111–116. Right end/corners: 124–126 and 101–103. Upper seating: top 422–431; right 432–434 and 401–404; bottom 405–414; left 415–421. The 200/300 bands are 221–240 and 321–340 above, and 201–220 and 301–320 below. These are page-relative groups, not compass directions or access routes.

What matters for basketball

Sideline seats give a side-on view of play at both baskets. End sections put you behind a basket, where the backboard and support can affect some sightlines. Higher rows and upper-bowl seats offer a wider view but place you farther from the action. Compare a view from your exact section and row before paying a premium.

The lower bowl uses 100-numbered sections and the upper bowl uses 400-numbered sections. Suites and premium spaces are separate products. A club label on the diagram does not establish what food, lounge or parking benefits your individual ticket includes.

For basketball, decide whether you care most about proximity, a broader view of play, an aisle or a lower total trip cost. Compare the exact section and row, not just the words “lower bowl” or “upper level.” For a concert, check stage orientation, floor seating versus standing admission and any restricted-view disclosure.

A diagram can orient you but cannot establish your personal sightline. Do not assume a premium-looking section includes food, parking or lounge access. Read the ticket’s stated benefits before treating any of those as part of the price.

Food & drink

Make dinner part of the plan: eat Downtown before entering, or choose from concessions operating on your concourse.

After the buzzer

Confirm when the kitchen stops serving, not just when the bar closes.

Inside the arena

Check what is open on your concourse. The building is cashless; outside food and drinks are prohibited under the checked general policy.

No complete current public menu or meal prices verified. Confirm ingredients and consequential accommodations directly.

Concessions, current offers and nearby dinner planning

Decide whether to eat before the event or inside

For a relaxed meal, give dinner its own time block. For a shorter evening, eating inside may reduce the number of stops. Either choice works better when made before you arrive hungry at the doors.

Toyota Center’s A–Z guide lists outside food, drinks and containers among prohibited items. It also describes a cashless building. Do not arrive with restaurant leftovers expecting to carry them inside. For a medical or dietary accommodation, ask Guest Experience about your specific need before the event rather than relying on a general menu claim.

Food inside Toyota Center

At 2026–27 Rockets home games, Red Rush 90 offers Rockets-apparel wearers half-price select concessions during the 90-minute pregame window. Check current terms.

Check what is open and available on your concourse before joining a line. A menu photo from a previous season or a premium-suite catering menu may not describe what your ticket lets you buy tonight.

We have not verified a complete current public menu with stand locations and prices. That means we cannot responsibly quote a current meal budget, promise a particular vendor will open for a concert, or label an item safe for an allergy. Ask the stand about ingredients and preparation when you arrive; for a consequential accommodation, arrange it with the venue in advance.

If a particular food item is essential to the visit, confirm it before choosing to skip dinner. If it is simply a nice extra, leave room to choose from what is actually operating.

Eating near the arena

Choose a restaurant by how it fits the evening, not only by its distance on a map. Compare the kitchen’s hours, the likely meal length, reservation availability, your group’s needs and the time needed to reach the correct arena entrance.

For an early dinner, work backward from your chosen arrival time and include ordering, eating and paying. For a meal afterward, confirm when the kitchen stops serving. A bar’s closing time does not necessarily tell you when you can order dinner.

Use our Houston dining guide to choose the kind of meal you want, then verify the restaurant’s current details for your date. Keep an uncomplicated backup if the game runs late or your first choice is full.

For a meal before tipoff, use our Where to Eat Before a Rockets Game guide to compare dinner plans and leave enough time for the correct arena entrance.

Make it a weekend

Build a Houston visit around the game. Choose a useful hotel base and one main outing, with time to put away bags and recharge.

Fit Houston around your arena visit

Make room for Houston without rushing the game

A short Downtown outing can be easier to fit than a cross-city attraction on the same day. Our Discovery Green before a Houston ballgame guide gives you a nearby activity to consider alongside the current construction and entry caveats.

Choose one main addition rather than filling every available hour. Leave time to return to your hotel if you need to change, charge your phone or put away bags. Keep longer sightseeing for a separate day when your schedule allows it.

If you have not chosen a hotel, compare the full visit in our Where to Stay in Houston guide. An arena-focused base and a base for several different Houston activities solve different problems. Consider the airport journey, other plans and your preferred return after the event together.

Before you go

Families and accessibility

Accessibility and family planning

Contact the venue before buying when you need accessible seating, a specific transfer arrangement or an accommodation. The official accessibility guide lists accessible garage spaces on Levels 1 and 3, with availability determined event by event. It also describes elevators and Guest Experience support.

That guide names a La Branch Street pickup and drop-off location, while the construction notice closes the La Branch Entrance. The continuous route from that curb to an available entrance is not verified here. Ask Guest Experience to confirm the current drop-off, entry and return arrangement for your event. Do not assume that an accessible vehicle or marked parking space proves the whole approach is usable.

For current access arrangements, contact Guest Experience at 713-758-7200 or guestservices@rocketball.com.

The arena’s A–Z guide says children below 36 inches generally may sit on an adult’s lap without a separate ticket, but event rules can differ. Check your event before purchase. It also identifies changing facilities in public restrooms and family service rooms on the main and upper concourses.

For families, decide where you will meet if separated, what your child needs during the event, and whether your return plan still works if you leave early. Check permitted equipment before bringing a stroller, carrier or other large item.

Your departure checklist

Before you head out

  • Open the correct event tickets and read the latest event-day instructions.
  • Check current construction, choose the entrance your ticket and bag permit, and leave enough time to reach it.
  • Confirm parking entitlement and access hours, or check both directions of your transit plan.
  • Measure your bag and remove anything you do not need inside.
  • Decide where dinner fits and keep a workable alternative.
  • Keep your hotel address and return plan available.
  • If you use storage, include collection in your departure plan.

The goal is a visit that feels straightforward once you reach Downtown. Settle the important choices beforehand so you can spend the evening watching the game or show.
