Mercedes-Benz Stadium Parking vs MARTA

Choose from your real starting point and the journey home. MARTA is the first comparison for a rail-connected base. Driving can earn its place for a permitted tailgate, equipment or group needs. Rideshare can help with a door-to-door leg, but still leaves a pickup decision after the event.

Which journey fits your day?

MARTA

Your base connects well to rail, and the return service fits your plans. Trade driving and parking for a station-to-gate journey.

Drive and park

The car serves your wider trip or a permitted tailgate. Compare the entire cost and the exit, not just a lot’s price.

Rideshare or shuttle

A car-free door-to-door leg helps, or a confirmed event shuttle suits your origin. Check pickup, capacity and access needs.

MARTA: choose the station and the return

SEC District is the stadium’s preferred rail stop; Vine City is another nearby option. Both are on the Blue/Green corridor. From the Red/Gold corridor, the usual rail transfer is at Five Points. Check the actual trip for your date, including construction and the station access you need.

Start with your hotel or other origin, then test the trip back after the likely finish. Include the walk to your first station, any transfer and the final approach to the stadium. A rail line on a map doesn’t settle those details.

Fare payment: check the current system

MARTA now supports contactless credit or debit cards at validators. Each rider needs their own accepted card or Breeze card; use the same card throughout the trip. Check MARTA’s current payment guidance rather than relying on an old card or saved app instructions.

If you’re considering station parking, check that specific station’s parking rules and availability. Don’t assume every station has parking, or that a space is reserved because you chose rail.

Parking: buy the plan, not just a space

Choose the event in the stadium’s official parking system. Confirm the lot, vehicle restrictions, opening and closing times, and the prescribed driving approach. Keep the pass available before the last part of the journey. Compare the return direction as well as the walk to the stadium.

A permitted tailgate can be a good reason to bring the car. The Home Depot Backyard has its own rules, including space and equipment restrictions; a parking purchase isn’t blanket permission to tailgate anywhere. Agree who is driving home before the pregame begins.

Check parking and tailgating restrictions

Rideshare: the pickup isn’t the drop-off

The stadium currently lists GWCC Bus Lane C and South Downtown on Broad Street between Trinity and Mitchell as rideshare zones. Confirm the event instructions before choosing one. Don’t assume a driver can collect you at the gate.

Pick a meeting point your whole group can reach, keep phones charged and have a fallback. Compare the waiting and final walking leg with rail before assuming rideshare is the easiest exit.

Event shuttles: verify before building the trip around one

The stadium describes a Fetii game-day shuttle from Atlantic Station. Confirm your event, return service and total parking-plus-shuttle cost before using it. The listed shuttle is not wheelchair accessible.

Accessibility: check every leg

The stadium lists accessible parking, designated drop-off/pickup areas and an ADA parking shuttle for most major events. A general service listing is not a confirmed arrangement for your event. Verify the lot or drop-off, assistance, timing and return with the stadium.

If using rail, check elevators and station access before leaving. In particular, verify any Five Points transfer or street-access leg rather than assuming construction has no effect. Choose a fallback that meets the same needs.

Decide before you leave

Save the ticket and any parking pass. Set the intended station, lot or pickup, the return plan and a meeting point. Check the event’s gate time and the latest operator instructions. Build in room for queues; none of these choices guarantees a journey time.
